This is the easiest part of the entire process to describe (although it may well be the longest to execute.
The kernel now needs to be compiled according to the configuration your just gave it. For that we use
make, and I add the
-j option to take advantage of the multiple cores on my machine. A little experimentation shows that 4 is the best I can do, but your mileage may vary.
make -j 4
At this point we’re ready to start moving all the files into the right place.
